About Jill Lanson

I believe leadership is measured by the people you grow.

I bring the perspective of someone who has spent more than 25 years leading through growth, complexity, and change, with a passion for building teams and developing the people needed to sustain progress.Â
Â
My career has been defined by building and transforming businesses. I started my career at ExxonMobil and then grew into a senior leadership role in consulting, where I helped scale a national Risk Advisory practice 7x, served on the Executive Leadership Team, built high-performing teams, developed future executives, and led significant transformation, including the shift toward AI-enabled ways of working.
Â
The strongest results come when performance and people reinforce one another. I build environments where expectations are high and people feel supported to grow, resulting in both people and the business reaching their full potential.

Leadership is deeply personal and experiences outside of work shape how we show up within it. I’m married to my college sweetheart, Keith. I'm a proud mom to my teenage son, Max, and have two amazing bonus kids, Rebecca and Seth. Being a working mom has shaped who I am as a leader in ways no classroom ever could. It taught me to lead with greater empathy, perspective, and flexibility, and to recognize that people bring their whole lives with them to work.Â
Â
I’m happiest when I’m spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, or moving my body. You can often find me walking around my favorite lake in a weighted vest, doing Pilates, or planning my next trip. In 2010, I took a sabbatical from consulting and went to culinary school, which says a lot about how much I value curiosity, creativity, and making space for the things that bring me joy.
principles Behind Into the Current
Into the Current is shaped by the lessons that have stayed with me most throughout my career.

Approach to Partnership & Coaching
You can be demanding and kind, hold high standards, and still lead with humanity. When vulnerability and accountability coexist, you unlock greater potential.
My style is candid, practical, thoughtful, and personal. I ask questions. I challenge assumptions. I share what I see. I listen closely. My goal is to help leaders become more self-aware, confident, and effective while staying true to who they are.
Why INTO the Current?
Water has always been where I think most clearly. It is where I go to reflect, reset, and find perspective. I am drawn to what happens beneath the surface, because the most important forces are not always the most visible.

That is what Into the Current represents. A current is always moving. Sometimes it is calm and steady. Sometimes it is powerful and disruptive. It responds to the environment around it. Organizations are much the same. Beneath every strategy, transformation, or leadership challenge are forces that shape what happens next.

You can't move forward simply by pointing to the destination. You have to understand the current.Â

Into the Current is about helping leaders and organizations understand those forces, make intentional choices, and create forward movement.Â
